Japan Wins Over Korea 3-0

Japan downed Korea 3-0 in the final match Sunday to wind up the eight-nation men's volleyball final qualification tournament in Tokyo with its second victory against five defeats. Korea was 1-6.

The Japanese quickly set the pace as the match began, taking an 11-8 advantage in a point-earning scramble.The Japanese displayed fine blocking skills in an exchange of volleys and widened their lead to 18-13. At 21-15 in Japan's favor, the Koreans fought back to narrow the gap to 21-18 but the Japanese took the set 25-20.
